Do you have deadlines, stress, and seemingly no time to juggle everything…let alone get some decent sleep? Well, you came to the right place. I hope you love coffee.
I too have become very familiar with stress and overwhelming responsibilities. I am constantly doing my best to find the perfect balance between work, school, ministering, and family. I would like to share with you what has worked for me.
God…enough said
First and foremost, I have found I can do nothing without God. I would encourage you to find rest and peace in knowing Him. Cast your burdens on Him. You will find peace that passes understanding. When you have true joy, joy comes from within and is unshaken by circumstances that are without. Try Him, you won’t regret it.
Schedule & Time Management
May I suggest to you? Have a schedule. Let it be your boss. If you take the time to divvy up your day into time blocks and then assign those times to productivity in specified tasks, you will find that you have more time in the day than you thought. You will find that your once overwhelming plate of responsibilities is now manageable and possible! Furthermore, I would schedule them by deadline. Whichever is due first gets done first. If you will finish one thing at a time, you can give yourself incremental feelings of achievement or “little victories” that encourage you to keep going because you feel a sense of accomplishment. Want another secret? Do the hardest tasks first. You’ll find it only gets easier from there. I call it “The Snowball Effect.” Granted, I am pretty sure I did not make that up, but your guess is as good as mine for who coined that idea. So, schedule…Try it. You won’t regret it.
Rest or Refill
The best thing would be for you to get some rest. Rest is just as important as work. Rest keeps you at your best. All of your anxiety and stress levels are heightened when you lack sleep. That being said, sometimes you might have to sacrifice some sleep in order to accomplish what you’re aiming for. That’s where coffee can come in. I love coffee, and I use it on purpose to aid in my success. So have some coffee…you won’t regret it.
Step Back
Sometimes, you need to take a step back in order to move forward. People can get so consumed with a task that they become unproductive after they have “hit a wall.” If you feel that happening, just step away for a minute. Do something that can take your mind off of the job at hand. Listening to music, reading a book, playing with a pet, or talking on the phone with a friend; any of these can help reset your thinking cap and give you a fresh perspective. Just be careful not to stray for too long or you’ll find yourself going from a little “R&R” to a little procrastination station instead.
Finale
No matter who you are or what your responsibilities are, just know this: God loves you and is for you. Also, so am I. Feel free to reach out with any prayer requests or questions you might have. I’ll be glad to hear from you. Try it! You won’t regret it…I hope! 🙂
